On Truth and Poetics
Poetics is a form of faith and trust.
Sometimes, we feel we need to hide in the thoughts of others in order to find out who we really are. Could it be because it seems easier to look at mirrors than into them? Or because we’re afraid that if we’d look deep enough, we’d be confronted with emptiness. Or perhaps, we fear the possibility of finding everything we need inside of ourselves and never be willing to look outside again.
Other people are the mirrors we trust before we learn to trust ourselves. Mirrors, made of thoughts, narratives, principles and actions. Mirrors willing to reflect the inventory of our own imagination. A myriad of unspeakable longings and dreams, boldly promising to come true. A cascade of emotions captured by moments, inexplicable in their clarity, from a sense of eternity to the feeling that we, too, have become a mirror to the soul of another. Isn’t this all that matters?
Sometimes we’re fortunate to get a glimpse of the truth.
We feel it is here, and without asking it, it would answer us.
We 've not invited it. Yet it stubbornly decides to stay in our life.
Somehow quietly, almost miraculously, we get used to its presence.
And before realizing it, we’ve come to love it.
